Of recent have noticed that Outlook for MacOS Sierra on O365 E3 won't open some attachments randomly. I can see the email has an attachment but its greyed out and I cant open it.
I can see and open the attachment via OWA and on my phone but not on Outlook for Mac 2016. There are a few emails with the same issue and it is NOT specific to a sender or an attachment type. The OS version is 10.12.6, and the Outlook version is 15.39. Would appreciate some quick support as this is on corporate email and some attachments are too huge to open on my phone.

2561What do Synchronization Log error messages mean in Outlook?
Sometimes you may receive an email, apparently from yourself, with the Subject line 'Synchronization Log:' and the content may look something like this:
15:46:16 Synchronizer Version 14.0.6131 15:46:16 Synchronizing Mailbox 'Ann Other' 15:46:16 Synchronizing local changes in folder 'Deleted Items' 15:46:16 Uploading to server 'ex-cas1.ad.susx.ac.uk' 15:46:16 Synchronization of some deletions failed. 15:46:16 [0-130] 15:46:16 1 item(s) deleted in online folder 15:46:16 Done |
Your name (or the name of the mailbox) would be shown where we have used 'Ann Other' as an example here. The time shown on the left of the lines in the message indicate the time the sychronizer log entry was made, and will probably match the time the message was sent to you.
This is probably happening if you're using Outlook in Cached Exchange Mode and there is a problem with the caching file on your computer. You may also receive apparently false 'mailbox full' warnings.
The simplest solution is to switch off Cached Exchange Mode. To do this, follow the instructions in FAQ 2348.
