Internet Explorer 11 Will Not Open Pdf

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you click on a link to a PDF file in Windows Internet Explorer and nothing happens? While I am not sure what causes this problem, here are a few solutions that will get you back in business,

Internet Options Advanced (Security section) uncheck 'Do not save encrypted pages to disk.' Try removing Internet Explorer from the process. Open Adobe Reader Edit Preferences Internet uncheck 'Display PDF in browser.' PDF files will open in Adobe Reader, not Internet Explorer. Next, from Adobe Reader Help, check for updates.

Solution #1: Re-install Adobe Acrobat (Windows PC)

Pdf files won't open in Internet Explorer 11. When every I click on a pdf link in my browser, it just goes to a blank grey page. I have Windows 7, 64 bit.
We`ve IE11 and Adobe Reader XI on Win2k8r2 Terminalservers. The Key did not solve our problem. We want to open PDF`s not in a Browser Window. We`ve disabled the AddOn via GPO. Now the Users gets a prompt (open, save or cancel) but we want that our users can open PDF directly without prompt. I`ve try the follwing keys.
I just had this experience with Internet Explorer 11 on a machine running Windows 7 Home Premium. The registry does not have an entry for tabprocgrowth, as mentioned in the referenced article. To fix the issue, I had to uninstall Internet Explorer 11 and use 10 instead.

Make sure Internet Explorer
Uninstall Adobe Acrobat
Reboot the computer
Re-install it from the Adobe website at http://get.adobe.com/reader/

Solution #2: Disable Adobe Acrobat Integration in Internet Explorer

If the problem persists, I another less ideal solution that works very often is to simply instruct Internet Explorer to open PDF files in their own window. I often use this fix when I don't have the option of doing the above solution (example: at a clients site):

Make sure Internet Explorer is closed
Open Acrobat Reader
Click Tools, Preferences and then on the Internet category.
Uncheck the first check box which says 'Display PDF in browser', click OK and close Acrobat Reader.

The above solutions have fix the problem in almost 100% of the cases where I have experienced this problem.

Solution #3: Use a different web browser

If your problem still persists, try using a different Web browser as Chrome or Firefox to see if it works better there. That will at least tell you whether the problem is specific to Internet Explorer or if the problem is somewhere else such as Windows, Internet Explorer, or a conflict with some other software on your computer.

If a blank page opens when you click a link to a PDF in Internet Explorer 10 or Internet Explorer 11, you may have disabled Acrobat or Reader for this website.

Microsoft introduced Enhanced Protected Mode (EPM) in Internet Explorer 10 and included it in Internet Explorer 11. EPM is enabled by default in Internet Explorer 11. When EPM is enabled, you may see the following message when you click a link to a PDF:

'This web page wants to run ‘Adobe PDF Reader’ which isn’t compatible with Internet Explorer’s enhanced security features. If you trust this site, you can disable Enhanced Protected Mode for this site and allow the control to run.'

Internet Explorer 11 Do Not Open Pdf In Browser

“Don’t run” disables Acrobat or Reader for this website (domain). Acrobat/Reader is disabled for all PDFs on the site. After you click Don’t Run, a blank page displays whenever you click a link to a PDF on the website.
